A Guide to &Tradition

&Tradition brings historic designs and contemporary work into one collection. Founded in Copenhagen in 2010, the brand works with archive pieces by designers including Verner Panton and newer designs from studios such as Space Copenhagen, Anderssen & Voll and Hee Welling.

What defines &Tradition?

The collection moves between two ideas: reissuing influential designs with care and developing pieces intended to remain relevant beyond a season. This produces a broad range, from recognisable lighting to restrained seating, tables and smaller objects.

Which archive designs should you know?

Verner Panton’s Flowerpot lamps are among the best-known. The brand also produces work by designers such as Hvidt & Mølgaard and Viggo Boesen. Archive status does not make a piece automatically right for every room; dimensions, light output, finish and everyday use still come first.

What about the contemporary collection?

Recent families extend across sofas, lounge chairs, dining furniture, lighting and outdoor pieces. Space Copenhagen’s work often brings tactile materials and softly resolved forms, while Hee Welling’s Rely family offers numerous seating variants. Compare each range by function rather than trying to make an entire room match.

How do you choose an &Tradition light?

Start with the kind of light required. Flowerpot pendants, portable lamps and table lamps share a visual language but perform different jobs. Check size, bulb or integrated light source, controls, dimming and location rating for the exact model.

Which furniture materials are available?

The range includes timber, veneer, metal, stone, upholstery and outdoor-suitable materials. Natural variation is part of many finishes. Request samples for textiles and compare care requirements before ordering a large upholstered or stone piece.

How should you choose between variants?

Product codes are useful because closely related models can differ in size, base, upholstery or purpose. Confirm the full code and specification rather than buying by family name alone. This is especially important for seating and lighting with many configurations.

Choosing &Tradition at kin.

Use the collection to find a strong individual piece, then check its proportions and function against the room. A familiar design is most successful when it also solves the practical need.
