The HAY About a Chair - AAC 18 pairs Hee Welling’s open shell with a tubular steel frame and separate armrests. Its moulded polypropylene shell is made from post-consumer recycled material, with the colour carried through the seat and back. Separate armrests have black polyurethane pads, while the steel frame allows the chairs to stack when space needs to be cleared.

Designer: Hee Welling

Hee Welling is a Danish furniture designer who founded his own studio in Copenhagen in 2003. The son of a cabinetmaker, Welling’s fascination with production techniques, materials, and machinery was fired as a child. He went on to study at The University of Art and Design in Helsinki, and received his master’s degree in furniture design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Centred around the idea of creating technically accomplished products that can reach a wide audience, his designs are characterised by a great sense of proportion and quietly elegant aesthetics.
