The HAY About a Chair - AAC 20 pairs Hee Welling’s curved armchair shell with a four-star aluminium swivel base. Its moulded polypropylene shell is made from post-consumer recycled material, with the colour carried through the seat and back. The swivel lets the seat turn towards a table or conversation while the base stays in place, unlike the fixed-leg AAC 22.

Designer: Hee Welling

Hee Welling is a Danish furniture designer who founded his own studio in Copenhagen in 2003. The son of a cabinetmaker, Welling’s fascination with production techniques, materials, and machinery was fired as a child. He went on to study at The University of Art and Design in Helsinki, and received his master’s degree in furniture design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Centred around the idea of creating technically accomplished products that can reach a wide audience, his designs are characterised by a great sense of proportion and quietly elegant aesthetics.
