Description

The HAY About a Chair - AAC 213 Soft brings Hee Welling’s lower-arm shell together with four solid wooden legs. Full upholstery with a quilted front adds foam and wadding, giving the curved seat and back a softer, more textured expression. Lower armrests allow this upholstered shell to fit beneath a table or desk; the legs are solid wood rather than plywood.

Designer: Hee Welling

Hee Welling is a Danish furniture designer who founded his own studio in Copenhagen in 2003. The son of a cabinetmaker, Welling’s fascination with production techniques, materials, and machinery was fired as a child. He went on to study at The University of Art and Design in Helsinki, and received his master’s degree in furniture design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Centred around the idea of creating technically accomplished products that can reach a wide audience, his designs are characterised by a great sense of proportion and quietly elegant aesthetics.
