The HAY About a Chair - AAC 224 Front Upholstered pairs Hee Welling’s curved shell with upholstery across the inner seat and back, leaving the coloured polypropylene outer surface visible. Its four-star aluminium swivel base has castors for movement around a desk or meeting table. Choose upholstery, shell colour and base finish to bring the different surfaces into your interior.

Materials: Injection-moulded, solid-coloured polypropylene shell with armrests, made from 100% post-consumer recycled PP; four-star swivel base in cast aluminium with wheels. Front upholstery with 10mm foam; coloured polypropylene remains visible on the outer shell.
Black base with all shell colours: black wheels. Polished base with white shell: white wheels with grey rubber. Polished base with other shells: black wheels.

Designer: Hee Welling

Hee Welling is a Danish furniture designer who founded his own studio in Copenhagen in 2003. The son of a cabinetmaker, Welling’s fascination with production techniques, materials, and machinery was fired as a child. He went on to study at The University of Art and Design in Helsinki, and received his master’s degree in furniture design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Centred around the idea of creating technically accomplished products that can reach a wide audience, his designs are characterised by a great sense of proportion and quietly elegant aesthetics.
