The HAY About a Chair - AAC 50 combines Hee Welling’s clean shell design with a height-adjustable five-star aluminium castor base. Its moulded polypropylene shell is made from post-consumer recycled material, with the colour carried through the seat and back. A gas lift changes the seat height, while the five-star wheeled base lets the chair turn and move around a desk.

HAY has always believed that good design is everyones right. That's why from the very beginning in 2002, co-founders and creative directors Rolf and Mette Hay committed to working the best designers to create high-quality products, made for the evolving needs of everyday life. Constantly striving to make good design accessible to everyone by supplying their trademark designs with affordable price tags. HAY is committed to nurturing and promoting young talents as well as using established designers.

Designer: Hee Welling

Hee Welling is a Danish furniture designer who founded his own studio in Copenhagen in 2003. The son of a cabinetmaker, Welling’s fascination with production techniques, materials, and machinery was fired as a child. He went on to study at The University of Art and Design in Helsinki, and received his master’s degree in furniture design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Centred around the idea of creating technically accomplished products that can reach a wide audience, his designs are characterised by a great sense of proportion and quietly elegant aesthetics.
