The HAY X-Line Cushion is designed to add comfort while complementing the chair’s distinctive wire-frame construction. Tailored to fit neatly within the seat, it provides additional support without disrupting the chair’s light, graphic expression. Simple in form and easy to use, the cushion offers a practical way to enhance comfort for extended sitting, while allowing the original design to remain clearly defined.

Designer: Niels Jørgen Haugesen

Niels Jørgen Haugesen (1936–2013) was a Danish designer known for minimal structures that combined visual lightness with technical clarity. After studying at the Danish School of Arts, Crafts and Design, he worked with Arne Jacobsen before establishing his own practice. His X-Line Chair, designed in 1977 and relaunched by HAY, is a defining example of Danish high-tech design.
