Designer profile

George Nelson

George Nelson (1908–1986) was an American architect, writer and industrial designer and one of the defining figures of mid-century modern design. Trained at Yale, Nelson combined architecture with a belief that design should respond intelligently to social and technological change. His influential work includes the Nelson Bubble Lamps, first developed in the late 1940s and produced for Herman Miller from the 1950s, now available in Europe through HAY.
