Find your fit
01 / Find your fit
Which Arbour is yours?
Start with the size that suits your room. Then explore the finishes and upholstery available for that piece.
02 / The details
A clear frame. A softer place to land.
Made to be seen.
Made to be lived in.
Arbour brings the warmth of a wooden frame into the room without giving up the comfort of a cushioned sofa.
Designed by Andreas Engesvik and Daniel Rybakken for HAY, it makes its construction part of the design: a defined timber outline holds separate, generously upholstered cushions. Choose the smaller Club proportions or make room for a two- or three-seater.
03 / Choose your scale
A shape for your space.
Think about the whole footprint, not just the number of seats. The Club Sofa is 150 cm wide; the two-seater gives you another 30 cm. The three-seater stretches to 220 cm.
| Piece | Width | Depth | Height |
|---|---|---|---|
| Club Armchair | 75 cm | 85 cm | 75 cm |
| Club Sofa | 150 cm | 87 cm | 75 cm |
| 2-Seater Sofa | 180 cm | 87 cm | 75 cm |
| 3-Seater Sofa | 220 cm | 87 cm | 75 cm |

04 / Colour changes everything
The fabric makes it yours.
A pale fabric keeps the wooden frame in focus. A deeper colour gives the whole piece a different presence.
HAY lists oiled waxed oak and walnut, alongside water-based lacquered beech in black, wine red and bottle green. Finish and upholstery availability varies by piece. Explore verified fabric colours and compare up to three before making your choice.
05 / Make space for it
Picture the everyday.
The right sofa fits the room, the route into it and the way you actually sit.
Mark out your chosen Arbour’s full width and depth, place a coffee table, then walk the routes you use. Measure doors, corners, stairs and lifts before ordering. If you are unsure about access, ask kin. to help check the delivery details.
Mark out the space.
Use the dimensions above, then allow room to move around the piece comfortably.
Look at it in your light.
Compare timber and fabric in the room where Arbour will live. Screen colours are only a starting point.
Check the way in.
Confirm access and delivery arrangements for your chosen size before you place an order.
06 / Living with Arbour
Considered down to the cushions.
HAY makes the frame and cushions as separate components. The covers are removable, and HAY lists seat, back and armrest cushions and covers as spare parts. The cushions contain recycled fibre balls and recycled foam left over from production.
Plump and reposition the cushions regularly to help them keep their shape. Follow the care guidance for your exact upholstery before cleaning: removable covers do not mean every fabric is machine washable.
Some Arbour upholstery options carry the EU Ecolabel. Certification depends on the selected fabric and configuration; ask us to confirm if it matters to your choice.
