The Dining Room

Study 02

A place
to gather.

Breakfast for one. A table full of friends. The dining room makes space for both. Begin with a table that suits your days, then bring chairs, light and the things you like to put on it into the picture.

There is no need for everything to match. A warm timber surface, a different chair and familiar glasses can feel all the more at home together.

Leave room for one more

Around
the table.

Think about the space around the table as much as the table itself. Leave room to pull a chair back, walk past and bring food to the centre.

A familiar material can connect different shapes. Try timber chairs against a more graphic table, or let a coloured chair bring a quiet room to life.

The things you reach for

Set the table.
Keep it simple.

Good glasses, a carafe of water and a tray that goes from kitchen to table. Small things can make even the quickest meal feel considered.

Choose a few pieces you will enjoy using often. Add flowers or a low light when the evening calls for it, and leave enough space for the conversation.
